2 days to go

Tomorrow we move out of our apartment and on Wednesday we finish packing the car and caravan and stocking it up with food.   We are both really looking forward to heading off on Thursday morning.

Our current plan is to head directly north west and cover some serious distance over 4 or 5 days heading all the way to Lawn Hill Gorge in north west Queensland, which is about 2700 km away.   While it might seem strange to cross half the country in a few days when we have a whole year away, the idea is to essentially start our trip at Lawn Hill.  Central Queensland is an area we have long wanted to see and we feel that it will be difficult to fit it in at a later stage of our journey given the other areas we want to see. Lawn Hill is the northern attraction we want to see so we thought we would start there hopefully before the wet season gets underway.

Once there we will relax and explore for a few days then start heading slowly back towards Brisbane (initially back-tracking a bit) over the next 6 weeks taking in several points of interest along the way.

    1. Thanks Ken, loving being on the road. All performing well on the caravan. Only real problem is our towing mirrors. We decided not to buy the $700 ones and these ones are getting blown around by the road trains wind when they pass us. You couldn’t wear a toupe out here!

    1. Yes B easy for us. Loving it out here. Not meeting many other travelers so locals really happy to see us. Every day we help a business or little town or farm. The farm stays are great. It pays to be totally self contained. Loving the Keddie

  2. Maddy n Steve you will love Lawn Hill! I’m sure you know all the points of interest along the way. I particularly loved Lark Quarry and the fossilised dinosaur stampede.
    Looking forward to your blog.
