Birds at Karumba, Mutton Hole Wetlands and on the way to Winton

Just north of the Norman river from Normanton are the Muttonhole Wetlands.  These billabongs host a great variety of birds so we made a stop there as part of a day visiting Normanton to help Steve deal with his bird watching affliction.

Bird watching can sometimes be pretty laid back as Steve is demonstrating, but at other times when the reeds are obscuring the birds, some more activity is needed to get a view.   Although Steve saw several other interesting species including Avocets and Spoonbills, the photos were not great but here are some photo’s of the birds we saw there (the full bird list for our trip so far is here)

Of course you also see plenty of birds elsewhere, typically where-ever there is water, so here are some more photos of birds seen over the last few days (running your mouse over the photo should give more information).
